Info from Project Kraken
The 2012 Olympic Games will attract many visitors to the UK some of whom are likely to be travelling across the Channel in small pleasure craft. Sussex and the Solent area support the largest marinas in the country and with a limited number of marina berths available this increased volume of small boats potentially presents an ideal opportunity for terrorists and criminals alike to exploit the projected huge increase in essentially unknown small boat traffic across the Solent area.
We and our colleagues in other police Project Kraken schemes are here to ensure that the 2012 games pass off as smoothly and as enjoyably as possible for you the boating public and are therefore asking; whether you are a marina operator, in the marine industry or indeed an individual boat user to be especially vigilant and report any suspicious booking requests or any other activity you deem to be suspicious in the run up to the Olympics. The preparation period for the Games is particularly important so please ensure that you ask your customers or friends on the continent who intend to visit the Solent area to plan ahead well in advance.

NO WASH POLICY
The Littlehampton Harbour Board are introducing a no wash policy, this will be in effect by this summer and it over rules the 6.5 knot speed limit although this is still in place. The area where this will start will be clearly marked and boat owners are advised that the HB will be making patrols throughout the summer.
The area it is proposed it would start is at the end of the narrowed channel before you get to the first moored boat, as you go over the shingle area, to keep control of the vessel you may use a bit more power but as you approach the area where it widens just past harbour park, you should have your speed right down. This will be in force for the whole river.
